Global Education Faculty Fellowship

The goal of the Global Education Faculty Fellowship Program is to encourage School of Education faculty to collaborate with Cornell University’s area studies programs and the South Asia Center at Syracuse University to create and implement curricular projects which integrate international, intercultural or global dimensions, and world languages, into schools of education curriculum. We aim to increase global learning, intercultural knowledge and competence of our future teachers. These projects could include a new course, a new unit of an existing course, or a service learning component to an existing course that encourages the exchange of diverse perspectives.

Each project must engage with one or more specific world areas. To meet our funding agency’s requirements, projects which engage with South Asia or Southeast Asia will be given preference and greater curricular development support.

These projects will be implemented over the course of one year, with the possibility of an extension of a second year if the project warrants further development. Over the course of the first year, the outreach coordinator will support Fellows by facilitating administrative support, in-person and virtual meetings, and content area resources needed in order to be successful. Individual projects will be funded as follows: $500 for development at the start of the project, and $500 for implementation upon completion.

Project proposals are due on April 12, 2019 via email to Kathi Colen Peck, Post-Secondary Outreach Coordinator, at Questions via email about the fellowships or the application process are more than welcome.

In your proposal, please include the following (as PDF or DOCX files only):

  • Cover Page, including:
    • Your name and contact information
    • Project title
    • A summary of the project and its purpose (up to 100 words)
    • Which world area(s) and/or countries you plan to focus on
    • Up to four global learning outcome(s) and other learning outcomes
    • Whether the project is collaborative (with program partners) or individual
  • CV
  • A project description (1-2 pages), including:
    • A timeline and schedule for project development
    • A description of how your students will participate during development (optional) and implementation (required)
    • A list of what you need to develop your project and how you anticipate working with the area studies programs
    • A plan for how you will present or share what you develop, and how you might present the work your students undertake (if relevant)
